SANTIAGO.- Despite being one of the key players in Saturday’s match, when his team Real Sociedad defeated Salamanca by a score of 1-0 in the Second Division of Spanish soccer, the group’s Chilean goal keeper was quite worried by the end of the game. Bravo, who is also the goal keeper for the Chilean national soccer team, suffered a minor pulled muscle in back portion of his left calf. SANTIAGO/ PARIS.- The Chilean tennis players at the Roland Garros tournament enjoyed a beneficial drawing, although two of them could face each other during the third round. Fernando González (ATP No.12) will face a player from the qualifiers, Paul Capdeville (ATP No.76) will go up against Argentine player Diego Junqueira (ATP No.79) and Nicolás Massú (ATP No.122) will play against Austrian player Daniel Koellerer (ATP No.81). SANTIAGO.- Just as had been previously announced, it was confirmed today that the new trainer finally chosen to take over Colo Colo would be Argentine national Hugo Tocalli. The former Sub 20 Argentina coach, which lead his team to victory at the 2008 World Cup in Canada was chosen instead of his fellow countryman Diego Cagna, who had been thought of as the favourite to lead Colo Colo. The coach was confirmed this morning on Radio Agricultura by Gabriel Ruiz-Tagle, who said that the new trainer for Colo Colo will have to, amongst other things, work to restore the team and transform the group into a powerhouse. Tocalli will also be involved in work related to the minor Colo Colo divisions, which are headed by Paraguayan national Gualberto Jara. SANTIAGO.- Chilean tennis player Nicolás Massú (ATP No. 98) had only a short stint at the ATP 250 tournament in Belgrade, Serbia (for 450,000 euros in prizes) after being defeated by Argentine player Brian Dabul (ATP No.108), with sets of 6-2 and 6-1. The match was uneven and ended with the Viña del Mar native fighting for points up until the very end, despite a score of 5-0 against him during the second set. Though a win would calm spirits and unite the team, Colo Colo will be facing a team that continues to speak of "a second go" following the 3-0 defeat by Colo Colo in Santiago. During a private practice session, the coach of the Ecuadorian team, Jorge Fossati, already defined the starting lineup that will face Colo Colo. SANTIAGO.- Four people were killed in a tragic head-on collision between two vehicles on the road between Villarrica and Freire in Region X. One of the victims has been identified as Argentine tourist Enrique Mesonero, who was driving one of the vehicles. The other three people killed, all Chilean nationals, were identified as Hugo Catricheo and Natalia Navarrete, who were riding with Mesonero and lived in the city of Cipolleti in Argentina, and 47 year-old Angelica Huerta, who was driving the other vehicle and riding with her daughter. SANTIAGO.- An Argentine national has been arrested in the El Volcán neighborhood of the Municipality of Puente Alto and is accused of raping several children between the ages of six and seven. The man was identified as 39 year-old Rogelio Navarro Mardones, who had been living illegally in the country since 2002. According to Radio Cooperativa, the suspect has been implicated in the rapes of three children and molestation of another little girl. SANTIAGO.- The Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, Alberto Van Klaveren, has, for the moment, denied that the Foreign Affairs Office will demand an explanation from the Argentine government with regards to actions of espionage carried out by former Argentine agent Iván Velásquez, who has been in custody in Montevideo since January 22nd of this year. According to Van Klaveren, the office is waiting for the results of an investigation being performed by Uruguayan judge Graciela Gatti, who is in charge of the case against Velásquez. Velásquez is facing charges of aiding and abetting, illegal use of private information and fraudulently obtaining information, among other crimes.
