Fourth group of telephone con-artists disbanded in eastern section of the capital

Two women and one man were detained after being recognized by their victims in Los Condes and Lo Barnechea.

SANTIAGO.- After evading capture for 15 days, three members of one of the groups, known as “Las Promotoras”, that had been making fraudulent phone calls, were arrested last night in the eastern part of the capital city. 


Sisters Patricia and Jennifer Sánchez Pino (24 and 29 respectively), were apprehended along with the younger woman’s live-in boyfriend, 26 year old Jonathan Contreras Rojas.


The three suspects are accused of making fraudulent telephone calls on July 15th 2008 to a home on Los Trapenses Avenue in Lo Barnechea, where they conned a Peruvian housekeeper and are also being charged with another case that occurred at a home on May 26th on Santa Paula Street in Las Condes.  


According to the sub chief of the Robbery Investigation Department (Birom), Juan Silva, Jennifer and Jonathan directly participated in a robbery and act of fraud in Lo Barnechea, where that have already identified by their victims.  Meanwhile, Patricia has been charged in the second case, where the assailants stole a cell phone, rings and money- the value of which has not yet been appraised.
